Dan Murphy

Investigative Reporter, ESPN
Board Member

Dan Murphy is a writer and reporter at ESPN where he’s covered a variety of sports, athletes and off-the-field issues since 2014. His work has been honored with a Peabody Award and an IRE Sports Investigation of the Year Award among others. His first book, Start By Believing, won the EVAWI National Media Award in 2020. Dan played football, hockey and baseball while growing up in Pennsylvania and Connecticut. Most nights of his youth were spent at a game, either playing or watching one of his four siblings play. He currently lives in Michigan, where he enjoys playing hockey, climbing and hiking.

This year alone, LPF has distributed over 4,000 soccer balls across our seven markets. Because of your generosity, thousands of kids now have greater access to the game and the opportunity to grow, thrive, and experience the joy that soccer brings.

Our team has worked hard in 2026 to collect, organize, and distribute sports equipment at a record breaking pace in our seven locations. We're grateful for each and every one of our supporters and we plan to continue impacting youth sports throughout 2026 and beyond!
LPF Ohio and the @columbuscrew have launched a co- LPF Ohio and the @columbuscrew have launched a co-branded metal donation bin! We celebrated the launch with partners such as @colsrecparks and @ohiocat1, families and community members, and Evan Bush and Sean Zawadzki of the Columbus Crew. 

We are excited to partner with the Crew to collect more soccer donations in Ohio!
